Darren Frederick Morrell killed in Oakton motorcycle crash
A motorcyclist died when the motorcycle he was driving collided with a car in Oakton Tuesday, officials said.
Darren Frederick Morrell, of Valentino Drive, was driving a 2005 Honda CBR sport bike east on White Granite Drive when he struck the left front wheel of a 1995 Pontiac Grand Prix, driven by an 85-year-old man attempting to turn left onto White Granite, according to a Fair Oaks Police District news release.
The man was exiting a post office parking lot and apparently did not see the motorcycle before he turned in front, the release said.
Morrell was ejected and hit the pavement. He was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
No other injuries were reported and speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors.
