Georgetown offers class on Jay-Z
November 5, 2011 - 02:22 pm
Students at Georgetown will soon be able to study the musical stylings of Jay-Z.
The class examines the sociology of hip-hop through the life of one of America's most famous artists.
The class addresses social issues like race, gender and ethnicity, according to professor Michael Eric Dyson.
Dyson wrote a book on hip-hop in 2007. In the foreword Jay-Z called Dyson “the most brilliant interpreter of hip-hop culture we have."
