A night of Halloween violence stretching from Georgetown to Petworth to Southeast D.C. resulted in the shooting of at least six people.

The first shooting occurred at about 9 p.m., when a juvenile was shot in the 100 block of M Street Northeast, near the New York Avenue Metro station, Metropolitan Police said. The victim was taken to a hospital and officers were searching for the shooter Monday night.

Frank Ramirez was inside his family-owned Mexican restaurant in the heart of Georgetown when he heard gun shots ring out at 10:50 p.m. last night.

Ramirez took video from inside the window where he was sitting moments before - just feet from where the victim was being treated by paramedics.

He says the 17 year-old victim was on the ground surrounded by his friends.

Witnesses say it all started when two groups of teens started fighting in the midst of the Halloween celebrations on M Street. Things quickly escalated and ended on 28th and N.

Police say they arrested a 24-year-old male near the Foggy Bottom Metro station within minutes of the shooting. A pistol was recovered, but he has not been linked to the shooting.

Half an hour later, two people were shot in the Petworth neighborhood, near the intersection of Georgia Avenue and Decatur Street.

The victims, one male and one female, have been transported to an area hospital, police said.

Shortly thereafter, about a block away at 9th Street and Crittenden Avenue NW, another woman was shot. The victim's condition is unknown.

In the fourth incident, a person was in Georgetown at about 11 p.m. The shooting took place in the 2800 block of M Street NW. A D.C. Police source tells ABC7 that the victim's injuries are life-threatening.

The victim has been transported to an area hospital. ABC7’s Pamela Brown reports hearing three shots and seeing people scatter.

The stretch of M Street where the shooting occurred will remain closed through the morning rush hour while an investigation continues.

In a fifth incident, a person was shot in the 4400 block of 7th Street SE. There is no word as to the condition of the victim.
