Updated: November 26, 2011 - 11:04 am
One of the six people struck by a car in the parking lot of a Home Depot in Hyattsville on Thursday has died, authorities say.
The deceased was identified by police as 41-year-old Fredys Castillo-Giron. Four others were hospitalized in critical condition.
Prince George's County Fire officials say the incident occurred in the parking lot at The Home Depot at 3301 East-West Highway in Hyattsville.
A 79-year-old man, of Hyattsville, went to the Home Depot to go shopping. When he realized the store was closed, he began to leave. While leaving the parking lot, the man had a medical emergency and lost control of his vehicle, which then struck six people who were standing on an island in the parking lot.
The accident is still under investigation.
