Hybla Valley hit-and-run leaves victim in critical condition
November 25, 2011 - 01:16 pm
An Alexandria man is in critical condition after he was struck by a car in hit-and-run in Hybla Valley early Friday morning.
Fairfax County Police say they responded to the intersection of Richmond Highway and Lockheed Boulevard at about 2 a.m. to find the victim, a 45-year-old man, lying on the pavement.
Police say a person driving a red SUV, possibly a Jeep Grand Cherokee, which was driving northbound on Route 1, struck the victim, who was crossing the road from east to west. The SUV stopped momentarily, then sped off.
The vehicle should have damage to its right front side, authorities say. Police do not know if alcohol or speed were factors in the crash.
