Eleven-year-old Star Wars fan Lane Mullins has been wishing for a piece of Star Wars at his home for a long time, and on Wednesday it finally became true.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation delivered a custom-made Star Wars bunker to Lane's Goldvein, Va., home. The high-tech bunker comes with automatic doors for Lane's wheelchair, air-conditioning and a flat-screen TV.

He made the request a few months ago. Lane has Duchene's muscular dystrophy. His parents say the bunker allows him to be just like any other kid.

“It's amazing that so many people are so kind to do something for someone they don't know,” said Amy Knudson, Lane’s mother.

Lane's wish is the 7,000th granted by the mid-Atlantic chapter of the Make-A-Wish-Foundation.

“We put a smile on a child's face and we put a bright spot in their horizon,” said Maura Harty, president and CEO of Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic.

Architects, engineers and artists consulted with Lane to make sure every detail was just right.

“This is going to be my new home now,” Lane says. “It feels pretty cool.”
