Louis Poteat, 72, killed in accident caused by drag racer
A man was struck and killed by a vehicle that may have been drag racing, police said.
On Monday at 2:20 a.m., U.S. Park Police responded to a car crash northbound on the Baltimore Washington Parkway south of Powder Mill Road in Beltsville.
Louis Poteat, 72, of Seat Pleasant, Md., was struck and killed in a crash, police said.
Poteat was driving when he was struck by another vehicle from behind.
He was taken to an area hospital where he later died from injuries suffered in the crash, police said.
Police are looking for a dark colored Mercedes that likely has front end damage. The vehicle may have been involved in a street race prior to the crash, police said.
The driver of the Mercedes did not stay on the scene of the crash. The other vehicle in the race was a silver Lexus, police said.
