Mount Airy woman, 57, dies from Tuesday house fire
A 57-year-old Mount Airy woman died Wednesday evening after suffering significant burns in a house fire on Tuesday, officials say.
Frederick County fire officials say that the fire broke out in a home in the 900 block of S. Warfield Drive in Mount Airy at about 3:30 p.m. Tuesday afternoon.
An investigation revealed that the victim was initially burned in the backyard, where officials found a flammable liquid in the area.
Firefighters also found the interior of the garage on fire, as well as several spot fires within the home.
The victim was medevaced to the Bayview Burn Center in Baltimore for treatment. Her 84-year-old father sustained a minor burn to his hand when he tried to help his daughter. He was treated and released from the same facility.
