(AP, ABC7) - The owner of a hip, new restaurant in Washington's Anacostia section is facing drug charges after investigators say 65 kilograms of cocaine were tracked from Texas to her office doorstep.

The Washington Post reported Sunday that 36-year-old Natasha Dasher, the owner of the Uniontown Bar and Grill that opened in February, was arrested Nov. 1. The restaurant owner, the driver and an associate are now charged in Maryland and Texas with drug possession with the intent to distribute.

According to a federal Drug Enforcement Administration affidavit, agents also found the truck driver and three large duffel bags containing about $1.5 million in her office.

"I'm sad to see the business go under. It's horrible what happened to the owner, I hope that everything gets resolved,” said Victoria Sparks, who was a customer of the restaurant.

Dasher's attorney told ABC7 neither of them would make any comment about the charges. Court records indicate dasher could be close to cutting a plea deal with prosecutors.

D.C. native Dasher said she wanted to return to her hometown and help restore a historic building, bringing jobs to the area when she opened the sit-down restaurant.

The restaurant was closed Monday. Nobody answered at Dasher's home in Southwest D.C.

Court records show agents from the federal Drug Enforcement Agency followed a tractor trailer from Texas to Dasher’s office in Fort Washington, Md.

"It really hurt me personally, because I met Natasha and I think a lot of her. I never would have thought something like this would happen,” said Ward 8 resident Jacque Patterson.

"It hurts the community because a lot of people have this image of Ward 8 and it plays into that imagery,” another resident said.
