Police investigate string of robberies
D.C. Police are searching for the suspect in a series of robberies that were caught on camera.
Detectives say a group of men struck four times at three different stores. Police say the suspects are armed and dangerous and are worried they could strike again.
Three masked gunmen climbed across the countertop at the 7-11 on Benning Road in the early morning hours, demanding cash from the clerk.
The men are suspected of three additional robberies, among them that of a Shop Express also on Benning Road.
Police believe at least two of those people seen on surveillance video have been on a robbery crime spree since Sunday, hitting the 7-11 twice in 24 hours. Employee Marc Parks helped console the clerk held at gunpoint.
Parks said he tried to calm down the clerk by saying "don't worry about it, relax, stuff like this is gonna happen in the world, just relax, don't panic at all.”
Authorities hope someone will recognize the men from the videotape. In each instance, the suspects fled in a dark-colored vehicle.
