Stephanie Schwab arrested

Police on Wednesday arrested Stephanie Lynn Schwab, who is suspected of a Tysons Corner carjacking, two bank robberies and stealing a vehicle over the past 10 days.

She was taken into custody Wednesday in Maryland on Old Georgetown Road and I-495. When she was caught, she had been driving a Ford Escape with Pennsylvania tags which had been reported as stolen.
Police then followed her and the car on the Capital Beltway until she got onto Old Georgetown Road. Authorities then captured Schwab, 26, after a short foot pursuit.
Schwab was arrested after she allegedly attempted to rob a BB&T Bank branch in the 6200 block of Old Dominion Drive in Arlington.
On Thanksgiving night, a woman gave Schwab a ride from a Safeway grocery store at the corner of Baltimore National Pike and Ingleside Avenue to the parking lot of another store in the 5400 block of Baltimore National Pike, police say.

There, Schwab threatened the driver with a knife and asked her to keep driving, police said. When the victim asked a passerby for help, the suspect tried to climb into the driver's seat.
The woman struggled as the victim tried to grab the knife from Schwab and was cut in the hand. The suspect was last seen running eastbound on U.S. Route 40 towards Baltimore, police said.
Police are also connecting Schwab to a bank robbery at the BB&T Bank at 8432 Old Keene Mill Road and stealing a car from a 59-year-old woman. That car has now been recovered, police said.
Schwab was wanted on charges of first-degree assault, attempted kidnapping and second-degree assault.
