Suspect tries to abduct girl, 17, in Stafford County
An 17-year-old girl says a suspect tried to pull her into his car while she was walking in the Garrison Woods apartment complex in Stafford County, the victim told ABC7 exclusively.
Police said the suspect tried to abduct the girl while she was walking between apartments on Oct. 25 at about 7:30 p.m. The man followed her in a beige four-door with squeaky brakes and ordered her to get into the car. The suspect threatened the girl when she refused to get into the vehicle and she fled.
“The car stopped next to me and he told me to get in the car and I said no. He said ‘If you don't, I'm going to get out and put you in the car’” Shashia recalls. “Then he yells he's going to come back for me.”
The incident scared residents at the Garrison Woods Apartment complex.
“I know a lot of girls in the neighborhood. It's scary to know it's going on,” said Gy Conton.
“Last week, we'd increased patrols in Stafford County because of alleged incidents in Spotsylvania County,” said Bill Kennedy of the Stafford County Sheriff's Office.
Three attempted abductions were repoted in neighboring Spotsylvania County during October. Police issued a warrant for Jacinto Andrade Hernandez, wanted in an Oct. 13 attempted abduction of a 15-year-old girl. He has not been arrested.
Police ask anyone with information to contact the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office at 540-658-4400, call Crime Solvers at 540-659-2020 or Text a Tip to 274637 (CRIMES) with the text “Stafford” and the message.
