Train derails in Bladensburg
November 29, 2011 - 03:31 pm
(AP, ABC7) - A CSX locomotive derailed this afternoon after it hit a derailer on a side track intentionally causing the locomotive to flip partially off of the tracks.
A small diesel fuel spill resulted but there were no injuries.
Mark Brady says the collision happened Tuesday just before 3 p.m. Brady says the train is reportedly off the tracks and leaking 1,500 gallons of diesel fuel.
Brady says collisions at the location in the 2900 block of 52nd Ave. in Bladensburg happen several times a year and that the train moves at a slow speed in the area.
