A Prince William County woman who is raising a child with Aspergers syndrome is about to be evicted from her home and says she has nowhere to turn.

Jessica Chaer says she was shocked to learn last month they were living illegally along Scott Drive in Manassas Park.

She and her partner Christina Simino rented out small portion of a home near their landlord’s house. According to city officials, that's a housing code violation. The owner has to knock down a wall.

“I should be getting ready to make a big Thanksgiving dinner for my family. Instead I am packing,” Jessica Chaer said. “We really don't know where to go, where to turn to.”

Chaer and Simino fear that by Dec. 1 their new address could be their Ford SUV.

“That's the last thing anyone wants, but if it comes down to the streets or the car, at least the car is shelter from the elements,” Chaer said.

The uprooting of his routine have negatively affected her 9-year-old son Caleb, Chaer said.

“He’s pretty much uncontrollable at school. They're having to restrain him,” she said.

The family says they can't find an affordable apartment. Shelters won't take their pets. Social service agencies are tapped out.

“Most people are like, ‘well at least I have a roof over my head, but in a few days I won't even have that,’" Chaer said.
