ALEXANDRIA, Va. (AP) - Boats decorated in holiday lights will be floating down the Potomac River during the Alexandria Holiday Boat Parade of Lights.
The parade begins at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Washington Channel and ends at the Alexandria waterfront.
Parade organizers are expecting approximately 45 boats to participate. They'll compete for prizes in categories including "Thinking Outside the Christmas Box" and "Hardiest Souls."
This is the 12th year of the parade.
Before it begins, Santa Claus will arrive by fireboat to the Alexandria marina to take pictures with children.
