Adele: Billboard's No. 1 Artist of 2011 in record-setting year
Daybreak Daily’s afternoon – and sometimes cringe-inducing – peek at the pop-culture world finds one extremely hot act, other things, and presents the mystery music video.
WHO?: Oh, her. Recount! Kim Kardashian’s an artist, too. Per the AP, If there is a "best-of" list for music this year, it's a safe bet to put Adele on top. Billboard has declared her the No. 1 artist of 2011. Rihanna was No. 2, followed by Katy Perry, Lady Gaga and Lil Wayne. The list, announced Friday, takes into account album sales, charting singles, radio airplay and other factors. Rounding out the list was Bruno Mars at No. 6, Nicki Minaj at No. 7, Taylor Swift at No. 8, Justin Bieber at No. 9 and Chris Brown at No. 10.” http://apne.ws/rJw9CK
SPEAKING OF BILLBOARD: The noted music industry mag has a Q&A with the aforementioned Adele. “Despite it all, Adele has been living in exile, of sorts. After having surgery to remove a benign polyp from her throat, she was not allowed so speak for weeks, never mind sing -- and, as readers of her blog know, she wasn't quite feeling it.” http://bit.ly/tTemVj
AND THEN THERE'S ANOTHER RISING STAR: Miranda Lambert got to jam this week with an idol, per Rolling Stone (with video), “At a Los Angeles show by her girl-group side project, the Pistol Annies, Lambert seemed most proud of having made a new friend: John Fogerty. "I don't mean to brag," the country star insisted, introducing her song "Dear Diamond" to a boisterous, capacity crowd at the House of Blues. "But he texted me and told me this is one of his favorites." Fogerty himself turned up later for a rowdy take on Creedence Clearwater Revival's "Bad Moon Rising," with the Pistol Annies on roadhouse-ready backing vocals.” http://bit.ly/w3WSyU
STRANGE: Bald again, Sinead O’Connor gets married in Vegas, per People, “But the singer said "I do" in quite the non-traditional fashion – while sitting in the back of a pink Cadillac.” http://bit.ly/rxdXA1
DADDY’S LITTLE GIRL: The ice apparently has thawed between Angelina Jolie and dad Jon Voight, per Radaronline, “The father, 72, and daughter, 36, beamed as they shared a close embrace at the ArcLight Cinemas, where the (Land of Blood and Honey) premiere was held.” http://bit.ly/tXI7TH
HOTTEST OF ALL TIME: Who? Recount! Kim Kardashian’s hot, too. Per Us Weekly, “Jennifer Aniston beat every single famous lady (past and present) out there in a recent MensHealth.com poll, which anointed her the Hottest Woman of All Time.” http://bit.ly/sIyekk
WHO? II: Recount! Kim Kardashian has famous parents, too. Per E!, “Rainey Qualley, the stunning 21-year-old daughter of Andie MacDowell, was named Miss Golden Globe 2012 last night by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association at their A Night of Firsts party. Every year, the HFPA picks the child of a celebrity to hand out it's statuettes at the big awards ceremony.” http://eonli.ne/rS8LT0
SUNDAY TALKER: But maybe not for long, per the New York Post, “Christiane Amanpour may soon be giving up the anchor chair on ABC News’ “This Week.” Sources say network honchos are mulling who might replace the award-winning journalist, who has struggled in the ratings since she jumped from CNN to take the reins of the public affairs show in August 2010.” http://nyp.st/tWWbnC
