December 20, 2011 - 06:20 pm
A jury convicted a 21-year-old Alexandria man of second degree murder for the April slaying of a University of Maryland University College student.
Alusine Kanu was convicted of killing 23-year-old Olusen Fashina of Lanham.
Fashina, who was studying criminal justice, was killed by Kanu on April 17 outside a house party. Authorities say the slaying stems from a fight over spilled drinks.
Kanu is scheduled to be sentenced on Feb. 23.
