Amanda Crelia charged with Fredericksburg Baby Jesus theft
A 25-year-old woman has been arrested and charged in the theft of a Baby Jesus figurine that outraged the Fredericksburg community.
Fredericksburg Police have charged Amanda Crelia of Spotsylvania with grand larceny for what they say is her involvement in the theft of the Baby Jesus from the Central Park shopping center on Dec. 13.
Three days after the theft, a citizen tipped off police to a photo of the figurine that was posted on Facebook. Police were then able to track down the Baby Jesus at the the house of one of the suspect's relatives.
The Baby Jesus had been stolen once several years before and weighed 80 pounds.
Authorities don't believe the relative was involved in the theft.
Police continue to investigate whether Crelia had an accomplice.
