Arena Stage holds casting call for 'Music Man'
WASHINGTON (AP) - Arena Stage is searching for four characters in the Washington area to fill roles in its production of "The Music Man" next year.
Open auditions are being held Saturday with registration beginning in the morning. Callbacks will be held Sunday.
The theater company is auditioning for the roles of Tommy Djilas, a mischievous teenager, and Zaneeta Shinn, the trendsetting daughter of the most prominent family in town. Auditions also will be held for children ages 10 to 12 for the roles of Winthrop Paroo, an introverted boy who speaks with a lisp, and Amaryllis, who tries to capture Winthrop's attention. The Winthrop and Amaryllis characters must be able to sing.
Arena's Artistic Director Molly Smith will direct "The Music Man" running May through July 2012.
