Five people have been charged with trespassing and one was injured after they tried to BASE jump off a television tower in Arlington on Thursday night.

Arlington County Police say that five people scaled the WETA television tower and attempted to do a parachute jump.

Only one woman out of the five people actually leaped from the tower. She got caught in a tree in the 5200 block of North 19th Road at about 10:30 p.m.

Witnesses told police they saw the woman try to climb down the tree when she fell. She was taken to an area hospital to be treated for her injuries.

Police identified the woman who jumped as Kristin Stewart, 48, of Litchfield, Conn.

The other four who didn't jump, but were charged with trespassing, are:

-Mark Krasinski, 48, of Somers, Conn.
-Katherine Sanpedro, 30, of Alexandria
-Robert Morgan, 25, of Fairfax
-Justin Miller, 30, of Alexandria

All five have been released on summons.

BASE jumping is an activity in which participants jump from fixed objects with parachutes. BASE stands for bridges, antennas, spans and Earth.
