A 17-year-old girl has been arrested in connection with a stabbing that injured another girl at Northwood High School on Tuesday night.
Briana Sarai Funes, of the 2200 block of Shorefield Road, was arrested and charged as an adult with attempted homicide, assault, reckless endangerment and carrying a dangerous weapon on school property.
Police say Funes turned herself in on Wednesday and admitted to the stabbing. She told police that she stabbed the victim repeatedly in the back during a fight before fleeing the scene.
At just after 9 p.m. Tuesday, police responded to a stabbing at Northwood High at 919 University Blvd. in Silver Spring, police say.
The victim, a 17-year-old girl, had been stabbed several times in her lower torso. The teen, a student at Montgomery Blair High School, was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The girl had been attending a basketball game between Northwood and John F. Kennedy High School.
