Capital Beltway rollover crash kills driver near St. Barnabas Road
One person was killed in a rollover accident on the Capital Beltway in Temple Hills early Saturday morning, police say.
A Maryland State Police official says that 22-year-old Byron Hilton was pronounced dead on the scene.
Authorities say that Hilton was driving a 1996 Jeep Cherokee on the ramp to eastbound St. Barnabas Road from the Outer Loop of the Capital Beltway when his car left the roadway just after 4:30 a.m.
The Jeep rolled over and police say Hilton was pinned under his vehicle. A Maryland State Police assistant commander says that the victim was not wearing a seatbelt at the time.
Hilton was partially ejected from the vehicle as it rolled over and landed on top of him.
Police say alcohol was found at the scene, but it is unknown whether or not it was a factor in the crash.
The investigation is ongoing.
