Eastbound Dulles Toll Road closing overnight Monday
December 19, 2011 - 05:06 am
McLEAN, Va. (AP) — Work crews plan to close the eastbound Dulles Toll Road overnight Monday approaching the Capital Beltway to prepare for a traffic shift that will restore a far left lane of traffic.
Weather permitting, the closure is expected from 9:30 p.m. Monday to 5 a.m. Tuesday.
Earlier this year, crews closed the toll road's far left lane for bridge construction associated with the $2 billion HOT lanes project on the Beltway. The closure caused significant headaches for rush hour commuters.
The Virginia Department of Transportation says that when the overnight work is completed, the lanes on the eastbound toll road will be restored to pre-construction conditions, ahead of schedule.
