Guns N' Roses, Red Hot Chili Peppers head latest Rock and Roll Hall of Fame class
Daybreak Daily’s afternoon wariness when looking at the pop-culture world finds a welcome respite with a lot of people rockin,’ as well as the mystery music video.
ROCKIN’ THE HALL: The latest inductees make for an eclectic mix, per the Los Angeles Times, “Three musical iron fists meet a pair of velvet gloves as Guns N' Roses, the Red Hot Chili Peppers and the Beastie Boys are joined by Donovan, Laura Nyro and England's Small Faces as the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's slate of performer inductees for 2012. Hall officials announced the news Wednesday. Others to be inducted include the Small Faces and Don Kirshner. Among those that didn't make the cut: the Cure, Donna Summer.” http://lat.ms/v85DDS
ANTHONY KIEDIS REACTS: In a superb Q&A by Rolling Stone about the Chili Peppers’ induction, the band’s lead voice is quite humbled, per this tease, “I called my dad. I told him that he couldn't say anything because it hadn't been publicly announced yet. . . I guess it's just something that you want to share with the people that you're closest to, like family and longtime friends. My dad cried. “ http://bit.ly/soiyV4
THE ALEC BALDWIN THING: The short version is that he was booted from a flight last night before takeoff because he refused to stop playing a social-media word game. People has the long version – and other versions -- right here, http://bit.ly/rqiPgv
THEY SAID, HE SAID: Bottom line: Did Tom Cruise’s handlers pay for fan frenzy in India? FIRST THINGS FIRST: Before filing for divorce, Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony are negotiating a financial settlement, per Radar, “There is no rush to do so because both sides agree on the formal date of separation.” http://bit.ly/tiyh7P
HARRY POTTER: The actor who portrays him is Entertainment Weekly’s show-biz man of the year, “Having captivated moviegoers around the world with the last installment of the Harry Potter series, Daniel Radcliffe earned the number one spot on our list of the most talented and original performers who entertained us this year.” http://bit.ly/vRAe9O
BLUE TV, RED TV: This is a fascinating read by Washington Post television critic Lisa de Moraes on the difference between the viewing habits of liberals and conservatives, not including news shows or sports. http://wapo.st/tjNxDP
SIMON COWELL RETURNS TO HIS OLD SHOW: Relax, though, American Idol fans, per Deadline, “Simon Cowell will return as one of the judges on next year’s Britain’s Got Talent, ITV boss Adam Crozier has confirmed. The X Factor impresario will resume his seat on the talent show following the recent exits of judges David Hasselhof and Michael McIntyre.” http://bit.ly/uxL8gX
LOOKS TAME: The good folks at PerezHilton have a picture of next month’s Playboy cover featuring Lindsay Lohan. Here it is: http://bit.ly/vYewPM
