The load of people hitting the road or taking to the skies won't let up anytime today, either. According to AAA, 90 percent of people taking trips of 50 miles or more will drive this year.

That nasty weather, though, could make for some rough commutes on the road and potential delays for the 92 million people expected to travel this holiday season.

In Denver, several feet of new snow is already causing headaches at the city's airport. But thanks to the sluggish economy, more people are ditching the skies and hitting the roads.

Crews are out in force to keep things moving, but snow and rain aren't the only things that travelers are battling. In California, for instance, high winds caused tractor-trailers to topple over, causing traffic delays.

And across the deep South, wind has been causing damage, especially in Louisiana.

It's not all doom and gloom for travelers, though, as even in frequent trouble spots like Chicago, the sailing has been relatively smooth.
