I-66 eastbound ramps to Beltway closed Friday night
December 16, 2011 - 07:54 am
Both exits from eastbound I-66 to the Inner Loop of the Capital Beltway will be closed Friday night into Saturday morning to accommodate a major traffic pattern change, VDOT says.
Starting at 9 p.m. Friday, crews will close not only the two exits from I-66 east to northbound I-495, but also three lanes on the Inner Loop to prepare to shift traffic to a new I-66 flyover ramp.
The roads should be reopened by 9 a.m. Saturday. Overnight detours will be set up in the area.
Once opened, the new flyover ramp will bring traffic to the Beltway on the right side of the highway, eliminating the left-lane merge from the old ramp toward Tysons Corner.
