Last day for free ride on new ICC toll road
December 4, 2011 - 07:50 am
GAITHERSBURG, Md. (AP) - Sunday is the last chance for drivers to take advantage of a free ride on a new toll road linking Maryland's Montgomery and Prince George's counties.
A new section of the Intercounty Connector opened Nov. 22 and runs from Georgia Avenue to just east of Interstate-95. The first seven miles of the $2.55 billion roadway opened in February.
Sunday is the last day driving on the entire 18 miles of the roadway will be free. Tolls will be enforced beginning Monday.
The remaining one mile of the six-lane highway connecting Gaithersburg and Laurel is expected to be finished in 2014.
