December 16, 2011 - 03:25 pm
Police arrested a 61-year-old Upper Marlboro man on charges that he used and investor's money for his personal use.
Leslie Randolph Holmes was arrested on Nov. 21 and charged with felony theft scheme.
Police say Holmes ran a business, Christian Financial Services, and claimed he was a certified financial investor, police say.
Police say he took more than $200,000 from a 53-year-old disabled veteran he met in 2002 at a church-related event.
The victim received quarterly statements indicating growth and profits in his accounts. In February, the victim tried to make a withdrawal from his account but learned no money had ever been deposited, police say.
