Man killed in Metro bus crash
A fatal MetroBus accident in Bethesda Wednesday afternoon caused a ripple effect of delays and other accidents late into the evening.
The crash was a short distance from the Beltway. It left one person dead and a bus driver injured.
Killed in the crash was Nkonou Ayaovi Edorh, 49, of Silver Spring. The bus driver, Lennitta L Bryant, 41, suffered serious injuries.
Highway crews quickly arrived on the scene and cranked up electronic detour signs while police officers did their best to re-route drivers.
But like a domino effect, other problems occurred.
A driver of a tractor trailer cut a turn too close and jeopardized a heavy load of car parts.
"They're going to have to pull me out," said truck driver Larry Booth. "Hopefully I won't flip over."
Even people who normally walk home from work were forced to take extra steps.
Ted Smith, a pedestrian, faced a mile and a half walk after he got out of work.
