The makers of the popular Motrin cold and pain relief medication has issued a voluntary recall, saying that some variations of the product do not dissolve as quickly as intended when taken.

McNeil, the company that makes Motrin, says that there is no safety hazard and that people who own the recalled brands do not need to return or throw away their products. However, the company says that as certain variants of the drugs near their expiration date, they dissolve more slowly, delaying the intended effects of the medication.

Motrin IB 24-count coated tablets and Motrin IB 24+6 coated tablets are affected by the voluntary recall. No adverse events have yet been reported.
