Man killed in Reston shooting
Updated: December 13, 2011 - 08:52 am
Police are investigating a late-afternoon shooting in Reston that left one man dead.
About 4:15 p.m., police responded to the 1500 block of Cameron Crescent Drive for a report of a shooting, Reston Police say.
The victim has been identified by Fairfax County Police as 34-year-old Colvin Morris of Alexandria.
Police found a man shot three times in the head outside of an apartment building.
A woman who lived nearby tried to revive the man but could not.
"The lady ran up to the victim and tried to help him," said Jane Martell. She was walking around in shock."
The man was taken to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead, the release said. Residents said the victim was shot multiple times and collapsed on the sidewalk.
"We're shocked at what's going on," said Reston resident Danny Miranda.
Michelle Davis came to the crime scene to pay her respects to the man, whom she says was a childhood friend.
"I grew up with him and his sister and his mom," Davis said. "He was a nice guy. I'm sad that they had to take his life like that. May God be with him and rest in peace."
Authorities are searching for three suspects. Police believe this was not a random act of violence and there is no public threat.
