When the Redskins announced two of its brightest stars--Fred Davis and Trent Williams--would sit out the remainder of the season due to league suspensions, immediate panic ensued.
But somehow, the Redskins offense is thriving. Young guys are stepping up hungry and playing for positions for next season.
In most key categories, the Redskin's averages in the past two weeks top their production in all previous weeks.
Both Williams and Davis have undrafted players filling in for them.
Defensive end Stephen Bowen will try to add to his career high total six sacks.
London Fletcher, solid as always, leads the league in tackles with 146.
It's a combined effort of veterans and rookies.
Today, the Redskins play the Minnesota Vikings.
Rookie running back Roy Helu is inactive with knee and toe injuries. Helu entered the weekend leading NFC rookies with 47 receptions and had rushed for 100 yards in three of his previous four games.
Other inactives included: LB Markus White, OL Erik Cook, TE Rob Myers, WR David Anderson, DE Doug Worthington DE Kentwan Balmer.
For the Vikings, for the first time in 50 years, 79-year-old consultant and team historian Fred Zamberletti will not be with his team due to an illness.
Game time
During the first quarter, Minnesota scored 3 points after Ryan Longwell kicked a 36-yard field goal.
In the second quarter, Vikings running back Adrian Peterson scored a rushing touchdown to give Minnesota a 10-0 lead.
Redskin receiver Donte Stallworth caught a 5-yard touchdown pass from Rex Grossman to cut the Vikings' lead to 3 points. Redskins now trail 10-7.
