Rob Bell of Albemarle County to run for Va. AG
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (AP) - Del. Rob Bell of Albemarle County will formally announce his candidacy for attorney general Tuesday.
The 44-year-old Republican says he will make the announcement at the General Assembly Building in Richmond, where he will be chairing a meeting of the Virginia State Crime Commission.
Bell will be the first candidate to formally enter the race after Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli's announcement last week that he will seek the Republican nomination for governor in 2013. Bell is a former prosecutor and a 10-year veteran of the General Assembly.
Republican Sen. Mark Obenshain of Harrisonburg told supporters in an email last week that he is actively exploring a bid for attorney general.
