SC, Virginia governors bet on Va. Tech v. Clemson ACC title game
COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - Sounds like there'll be some good eating at a Governor's Mansion after Saturday night's Atlantic Coast Conference championship game.
South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley has bet some of her state's barbecue against a Smithfield ham put up by Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell on the outcome of the title matchup between Clemson and Virginia Tech at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, N.C.
Haley is a Clemson graduate and is confident she won't be sending the barbecue from Hudson's Smokehouse north. McDonnell is equally confident that the Hokies will take their fifth ACC championship in eight seasons.
The two made the wager this week at the Republican Governors Association Quarterly Meeting.
No. 5 Virginia Tech (11-1) is a seven-point favorite over No. 21 Clemson (9-3).
