December 30, 2011 - 04:57 am
A motorcycle driver was killed just after midnight Friday in a crash on the Outer Loop of the Capital Beltway in Silver Spring, police say.
Maryland State Police say the crash occurred at about 12:16 a.m. near the exit for Colesville Road in Montgomery County. Witnesses tell police that the driver of a Kawasaki motorcycle, identified as Kevin Bernard Hinnant Jr. Of Laurel, was speeding when he lost control of his bike and hit the right guard rail.
Hinnant, 24 was taken to Suburban Hospital, where he died from his injuries. Police say that speed and alcohol appear to be factors in the crash.
All lanes of the Beltway were closed for a period of time overnight while the crash was investigated. The lanes have since reopened.
