Detectives in Montgomery County are trying to determine if two home burglaries in Silver Spring are linked.

Montgomery County Police say the two robberies happened about 20 minutes apart on McAlpine Road and Brunett Avenue on Dec. 19.

The first burglary took place at about 11:25 a.m. in the 9500 block of McAlpine Road. A neighbor says a suspect exited a green SUV and approached the home while another person stayed in the car. The suspect then kicked in the door, then running away from the house with property. He then got back into the SUV, which drove away.

Less than half an hour later, surveillance cameras caught a suspect kicking in the door of a home in the 10000 block of Brunett Avenue. The suspect then ran upstairs and rummaged through things in the house, but police do not believe anything was taken from the house.

In both cases, the suspect is described as a black male, about 25 years old, who stands 5-foot-9 and about 160 pounds. He has a mustache and a goatee. The green SUV was involved in both burglaries, police say.

Anyone with information is asked to call Montgomery County Police.
