Southeast D.C. sexual assault suspect still at large
Updated: December 31, 2011 - 04:37 pm
Police are searching for a suspect in a sexual assault that took place in Southeast late Friday night.
Police say the latest assault happened at about 9:35 p.m. Friday in the Washington Highlands neighborhood of Southeast Washington. Authorities say that the victim was walking in the 3900 block of 8th Street SE when she was approached by a man driving a black Chevrolet SUV.
The suspect ordered the victim to get into the car at gunpoint, drove about a block away and sexually assaulted her, police say.
It's the second sexual assault in as many days that involved a woman being forced under duress to drive to a location and then being assaulted.
On Thursday night, a woman was kidnapped and sexually assaulted after a man entered her car in the 700 block of F Street NW. The woman was forced at gunpoint to drive to Farragut Street in Petworth, where she was assaulted while her 15-month-old son sat in the backseat.
However, police officials tell ABC7 that they do not believe there is a link between the two assaults.
The suspect in Friday's assault is described as a 24 to 26-year-old black male, 5-foot-5 and 160 pounds with a dark complexion, mustache and a beard. Police say he was wearing dark pants and a striped shirt at the time of the incident.
Anyone with information is asked to contact D.C. police.
