Officials say the first fire was reported at about 10:45 p.m. Monday in the 3700 block of Singleton Terrace. About five minutes later, another fire was discovered a couple of blocks away in the 3900 block of Addison Woods Road.

Firefighters extinguished the blaze, but some damage to adjacent garages was sustained.

Officials say both fires were contained by about 11:30 p.m. No injuries were reported.

The damages to the garage on Singleton Terrace are estimated to be $50,000 while the fire on Addison Woods Road caused an estimated $80,000 in damages as it destroyed a detached garage and two vehicles inside, according to a news release.

Because of the proximity of the fires, investigators worked to try and determine the cause and origin of the fires.

Investigators learned that there were also several other acts of vandalism throughout the neighborhood, including damages to signs owned by the Home Owners Association, the release said.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact the Frederick County Fire Investigation Task Force at 301-600-6876 or 301-600-3894.
