University of Maryland president's house targed for demolition
COLLEGE PARK, Md. (AP) - The University of Maryland is waiting for approval to demolish the 55-year-old brick mansion that serves as the official residence school's president.

The Baltimore Sun reports the home will be razed this fall and replaced with a new structure if the state's Board of Public Works approves the demolition Wednesday.
The 5,600-square-foot home has not been upgraded in 20 years, has no fire sprinkler system and is not accessible to the disabled.
Work on a new $7.2 million home and event center is on track to be finished in July. The president of a nonprofit group overseeing the project says the foundation is raising money through private donors.
The school's current president, Wallace Loh, is living in a home he purchased near campus.
