Woman, 70, severely beaten in Capitol Heights
December 23, 2011 - 02:13 pm
A 70-year-old woman was severely beaten Thursday night during a burglary at her house in Capitol Heights.
The victim, who is a former Marine, remains in critical but stable condition.
Known by her neighbors as Mrs. Jackie, the woman was sound asleep when an intruder broke into the home early this morning through a front porch window. In just minutes the suspect ransacked the inside and severely beat the homeowner.
Eventually the suspect escaped through a side door. The victim found the will, physically and mentally, to stumble across the street, to a neighbor's home.
"She was real covered in blood," said the neighbor, Tania Green. "My husband called the police and the ambulance."
