Confederate flag dispute isn't over in Lexington, Va.
LEXINGTON, Va. (AP) - An official with the Sons of Confederate Veterans says a dispute over displaying the Confederate flag in Lexington isn't over.
Brandon Dorsey, commander of Camp 1296 of the group's Stonewall Brigade, says he plans to file a lawsuit challenging a city ordinance that bans flying the Confederate flag on city-owned poles.
Dorsey also tells WSLS-TV that the Sons of Confederate Veterans plans to display Confederate flags in downtown Lexington later this month during the two-day Lee-Jackson Days event. Members will stand beneath flag poles and hold the flags.
City Manager T. Jon Ellestad says that shouldn't be a problem as long as the group's members don't block the sidewalks.
