About 2,7000 Dominion customers without power
UPDATE: By 7:15 p.m., power was restored to all but 10 customers. Power will be fully restored once Fairfax County Police finish their investigation into the electrical shock and give Dominion access to the area.
A contractor doing work on power lines near W&OD trail at Hunter Mill Road and Hunter Station caused a large power outage after he sustained an electrical shock.
Dominion Power says approximately 2,700 customers are without power. Crews are working to restore at this time. Work is not expected to take more than a couple hours.
An investigation into the exact cause is underway, but it’s believed to have been due to contractor error.
The worker was performing circuit reconditioning work when the incident occurred.
Fairfax County Fire confirms the man was flown to an area hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries.
