Police are asking for the public's help in locating a critical missing adult from Gaithersburg.
Alyona Joy Mayo age 19, who police say functions at the level of an 11-year-old, left her home on Saturday at approximately 12:50 p.m., walking to the Goshen Plaza Shopping Center. She did not return home and has not made contact with family members, police say.
Mayo is described as a white female, 5'6' tall, weighing 130 pounds, with blonde hair and blue eyes. She was last seen wearing a pink hooded jacket, blue jeans, and brown shoes.
Her family has told police that it is uncharacteristic of Mayo to not to be in contact with her family or return home.
At this stage of the investigation there is no evidence of foul play.
Anyone with information about Alyona Mayo whereabouts is asked to call the 6th District or the police non-emergency number at 301 279-8000.
