Another Coup for Edsall
Less than a week after top running back Wes Brown decided to stay at home and commit to Maryland, Coach Randy Edsall has struck gold… twice. Friendship Collegiate’s Albert Reid made his intentions known - and he’s decided to also stay close to home and attend Maryland.
The 2011 D.C Gatorade Player of the Year had offers from Iowa, Cincinnati, Duke, Stanford and Vanderbilt, he verbally committed to West Virginia in June, but the Terps swooped in during a November blitz and made Reid an offer he couldn’t refuse.
“I chose them because at Maryland I wanted to major in mechanical engineering and it has one of the top engineering programs in the nation,” Reid said. “Not only that, but because I think they’re up and coming and they are going to start something big there and Coach [Randy] Edsall is getting good players and they’ll get better.”
Reid had over 1,700 yards and 17 touchdowns for the 9-1 Knights. He averaged 7.6 yards/game on 225 carries in 10 games for the 7th Ranked team in the area.
