Anthony Waters convicted of murdering witness
January 20, 2012 - 06:14 pm
A 44-year-old man was convicted Friday of killing a government witness in 2010.
A jury convicted Anthony Waters, of D.C., of first degree murder in the June 2010 slaying of Derrick Harris, 37.
Waters faces life without the possibility of release.
Authorities said the two men knew each other and were part of a neighborhood crew called Parkchester.
In 1998, Harris testified about a 1996 murder that occurred in the Barry Farms area of Southeast D.C. Afterward, Harris was shunned for testifying.
On June 14, Waters shot and killed Harris after an argument.
