Betty Davis of Arkansas forced to rob bank
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) - Arkansas authorities are searching for a man suspected of holding a 73-year-old woman and her husband hostage and then trying to force her to rob a bank by strapping a device to her ankle that he said was a bomb.
Police say Betty Davis told the Fayetteville bank's employees about the device and everyone left the building safely except her.
A bomb squad was then able to remove the device and it was being tested to see if it really was dangerous.
Police say Davis said a man had been holding her and her husband hostage at their Washington County home. Sheriff's deputies found her husband tied up at home but unharmed.
The couple's pickup truck was missing, but Fayetteville TV station KHOG reported deputies later found it.
