Bladensburg fire death investigated

Bladensburg police and fire officials are investigating the circumstances surrounding a man's death inside a highrise apartment building.

Firefighters found the body in an apartment at about 10:45 a.m. Wednesday at the Phoenix Apartments in the 5800 block of Annapolis Road.

There were smoky conditions in the sixth floor of the building, where firefighters found a dead adult man inside an apartment with what appeared to be burn injuries.

The victim was identified as Jerry Holloway. Authorities said he likely accidentally ignited his clothes while cooking.
