Bob Ryan receives AMS Award for Broadcast Meteorology
ABC7 Senior Meteorologist Bob Ryan will be honored Tuesday night with the AMS Award for Broadcast Meteorology.
Established in 1975, the award recognizes meteorologists for their dedication to advancing the science of weather forecasting through broadcasting, education, safety and support of colleagues.
“Bob has a unique ability to communicate the science of meteorology,” said ABC7 General Manager Bill Lord. “He tells the weather story to the television audience in clear and concise terms without ever oversimplifying the underlying causes of the weather we experience.
"He’s a great guy to have on our team.”
Ryan, who joined ABC7 in May of 2010, has spent more than three decades giving residents of the Washington metro area the latest weather and climate news.
He'll accept the award at the 92nd annual American Meteorological Society awards banquet in New Orleans.
