Body found in well not yet ID'd
Police are still not sharing much about the discovery of a body found in a well in Fort Washington, Md.
Prince George's County Police as well as Alexandria Police have been on the scene after receiving an anonymous tip about the body around noon Thursday.
Detectives from Maryland and Virginia are trying to find out the identity of a victim whose body was found today in a well in Fort Washington.
And they are checking to see if it might be a well-known community activist who has been missing for months.
The remains were found on Old Court Road in Fort Washington.
Authorities say they need to excavate around the 20-foot well to remove the body amidst concern of the well collapsing. They also must determine if any underground utilities are near the well.
Police say it may take until Friday night to remove the body.
Neighbors say they can't remember anything like this happening around there.
And they say they haven't seen anyone living on the property in years. Most of the year they can't even see the house.
Police say they got an anonymous tip about the body around noon.
And even though it's in Prince George's County, Alexandria police were there, too.
They've been searching for missing community activist Lenny Harris since September.
No identification has been announced yet and authorities won't say if this could be connected to Harris or any other missing person in our area.
