Carmela dela Rosa to be sentenced in Tysons Corner murder
FAIRFAX, Va. (AP, WJLA) - A Virginia grandmother could get up to 35 years when she is sentenced for murdering her 2-year-old granddaughter by tossing her off a sixth-level walkway at a busy shopping mall.

Carmela dela Rosa was convicted in Fairfax County of killing young Angelyn Ogdoc in November 2010 at Tysons Corner Center after a family trip to the mall's food court.

Dela Rosa's lawyer argued unsuccessfully that her client was legally insane. In a videotaped confession, dela Rosa told police she killed Angelyn to get back at her son-in-law for getting her daughter pregnant out of wedlock.
A jury recommended a 35-year sentence last year. At a hearing Friday morning, the judge can either impose the full 35 years or reduce the sentence if he sees fit.
The sentencing is scheduled to begin at 11:30 a.m.
